How to choose a Fressko cup
Every Fressko cup here is the same insulated stainless steel cup, so choosing one takes two decisions: the size of coffee you usually order and the colour you want to carry. Pick the size from the menu on the product page, then the colour. The sections below cover fit, insulation, the lid, and how to keep the cup looking new.
Choose a size: 8oz or 12oz
- 230ml (8oz), which Fressko calls the Bino: made for small coffees such as a small latte, flat white or cappuccino. It stands 12.5 cm tall with the lid on and 10.0 cm without, with a 7.5 cm lid and a 6.0 cm base.
- 340ml (12oz), which Fressko calls the Camino: sized for a regular latte or flat white. It stands 14.6 cm tall with the lid and 11.8 cm without, with a 9 cm lid and a 7 cm base.
If you're unsure, go with the size you'd order in a takeaway cup. Barista measurement lines inside the cup show your barista, or you at home, how far to fill it.
Under the machine and in the car
Fressko designs both sizes to fit under standard coffee machines and in a standard car cup holder. To check a machine at home, measure the gap between the drip tray and the spouts: the cup goes under without its lid, so the 8oz needs about 10 cm and the 12oz about 12 cm.
Choosing a colour
The colours are Coal, Oat, Sage, River, Emerald, Floss, Peachy and Limoncello. The size, lid and insulation are identical in every colour, so choose on looks alone. Coal is Fressko's deep black and the most forgiving of coffee marks; Floss is a soft pink and Limoncello a bright yellow. In a shared office kitchen, a different colour for each person ends the question of whose cup is whose. Colours can look slightly different on screen from the cup in your hand.
Hot drinks and cold drinks
The cup has a vacuum-insulated double wall. Fressko says it keeps coffee hot for up to 3 hours, depending on use, and it keeps cold drinks cold as well, so the same cup works for an iced latte or cold brew in summer. The outside stays cool to the touch while you hold a hot coffee.
Using the lid
The click-lock lid screws on, and the seal depends on doing it properly. Fressko's method: open the spout, tighten the lid firmly, wait a few seconds, give it another twist, then close the spout. A sealed hot drink can build a little pressure, so keep the cup upright and open the spout slowly. Fressko calls its cups spill-proof rather than leakproof, which means carrying the cup upright, not lying on its side in a bag.
Looking after your cup
The lid can go on the top rack of the dishwasher. Wash the body by hand: Fressko says a dishwasher can wear the non-slip base and the colour coating, and its warranty excludes cleaning damage. Never put the cup in the microwave, because it contains stainless steel. The body is scratch resistant and the base slip resistant, and hand washing keeps both that way for longer.

FAQs
What sizes do Fressko cups come in?
We stock the Fressko stainless steel cup in two sizes: 230ml (8oz) and 340ml (12oz), choosing the size on each colour's product page. Fressko also makes a 118ml (4oz) Piccolo and a 475ml (16oz) Grande, which we don't carry. If you mostly drink espresso or piccolos at home, a glass may suit you better: our reusable coffee cups and coffee glasses include 90ml Duralex espresso glasses.
Is Fressko an Australian brand?
Yes. Fressko designs its cups and bottles in Melbourne, and they are assembled in China in factories Fressko describes as safe, fair-pay workplaces. The idea behind the reusable cup is simple: every cup you carry is one less throwaway cup from the café. Fressko makes several cup ranges in stainless steel and ceramic; the one we stock is the insulated stainless steel cup in 8oz and 12oz, in eight colours.
What is a Fressko cup made of?
Fressko lists its stainless steel cups as a 304 stainless steel body, a lid of hardened food-grade polypropylene and a silicone base fixed with a non-toxic adhesive, and describes all of it as BPA-free, lead-free and non-toxic. If you spot a number stamped inside the lid, it is a batch code, not a material marking, so there is nothing to worry about. Because the body is steel, the cup can't go in the microwave.
How do I get coffee stains out of a Fressko cup?
Some mild discolouration inside the cup is normal, Fressko says, and it doesn't affect how the cup performs. For the chalky residue that hard water leaves, soak the cup in warm water with a little vinegar, then rinse it well. Hand wash the body rather than putting it in the dishwasher, because heat can wear the colour coating and the non-slip base. The lid is fine on the top rack.
What warranty comes with a Fressko cup?
Fressko gives a 12-month manufacturing warranty, which covers faults in materials and workmanship. It doesn't cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage such as a drop, misuse, improper care or cleaning-related damage, and Fressko doesn't treat minor blemishes or slight variations in the paint finish as faults.
