Why Choose an Automatic Coffee Machine for your Office?
Installing a quality office coffee machine isn’t just about convenience—it’s a strategic investment in your workplace culture, employee satisfaction, and bottom line. Australian businesses are discovering that premium automatic coffee machines pay for themselves through increased productivity, reduced absenteeism, and improved staff morale. Here’s why office coffee machines have become essential workplace equipment across Melbourne and Sydney.
3 Benefits of an Office Coffee Machine
Boost Workplace Productivity
Studies show that employees with access to quality coffee in the office are 15-20% more productive than those without. When your team can grab a barista-quality flat white or cafe latte without leaving the building, they spend more time at their desks and less time queuing at cafés. The average employee spends 25-40 minutes per day on coffee runs—that’s 2-3 hours weekly that could be redirected to productive work. Premium automatic machines, such as JURA and WMF, deliver café-quality results in under 60 seconds, meaning your team can get their caffeine fix without disrupting workflow.
Significant Cost Savings
The mathematics are compelling. A café coffee in Melbourne or Sydney averages $4.50-$6.00 per cup. For an office of 15 staff members, having two coffees per day, that's $135-$180 per day, or $35,100-$46,800 annually, if the business is providing coffee benefits. A professional office coffee machine produces exceptional coffee for approximately $0.80-$1.30 per cup, including beans, milk, and maintenance. That same 15-person office spends just $6,240-$10,140 annually—a saving of $28,860-$36,660 in the first year alone. Even after accounting for machine purchase or rental costs, most businesses achieve ROI within 3-6 months.
Impress Clients & Visitors
First impressions matter. When clients visit your office and are offered a cafe-quality cafe latte from a premium JURA or WMF machine, you convey professionalism and a commitment to quality. The corporate coffee culture has evolved; instant coffee and basic drip machines no longer meet professional standards. Having a Swiss-made automatic coffee machine in your reception area or boardroom shows that your business prioritises quality at every level. Many of our corporate clients report that their office coffee machine has become a conversation starter during client meetings, helping to set a premium tone before business discussions even begin.

JURA - Swiss Made
JURA represents the pinnacle of automatic coffee machine engineering. Founded in Switzerland in 1931, JURA pioneered the automatic coffee machine category and continues to set industry standards for innovation and quality. JURA machines are perfect for small offices of 10 staff to large offices of 150 staff, where ease of use and exceptional coffee quality are priorities. Every JURA machine features a professional-grade grinder with adjustable grind settings, ensuring optimal extraction for any bean variety. The intelligent pre-brew aroma system and precise temperature control deliver café-quality coffees at the touch of a button.

WMF - German Engineering
WMF brings over 160 years of German engineering expertise to commercial coffee solutions. WMF machines are designed specifically for high-volume commercial environments, hotels, convenience stores, and large corporate offices. If your office serves 50+ staff or requires up to 300 cups daily, WMF’s commercial-grade construction delivers unmatched reliability and speed. WMF machines feature dual boilers for simultaneous coffee and milk preparation, high-capacity grinders, industrial-grade brewing groups and milk pump systems to keep up with demand.

CREM - Made in Spain
CREM is a Spanish commercial espresso machine manufacturer based in Valencia, with over 35 years of experience producing reliable, professional-grade equipment for cafés, restaurants, and offices. As a Spanish brand, CREM delivers excellent build quality and commercial performance at a more accessible price point than premium Italian marques, making professional espresso economically viable for independent businesses and corporate environments.

Automatic coffee machines
- Easy of use - No training required. Bean to Cup - Place a cup and press a button.
- Speed - Coffee in (40 - 60) sec depending on the model.
- Drink quality - The coffee quality is high and consistent. It is not dependent on barista training or experience.
- Drink choice - Depending on the model drink choice is limited to completely flexible. Some automatic machines also make chocolates and mochas for non-coffee drinkers.
- Flexibility - Coffee strength, milk and water quantity can be adjusted to suit personal preference cup by cup.
- Milk choice - Limited to 2 types of dairy milk unless the model has a built-in steam wand or you add a steam wand accessory.
- Waste - There is no wasted coffee or milk.
- Mess - No cleaning is required throughout the day.
- Cleaning - No cleaning is required after each coffee. An automatic milk system clean is performed at the end of the day (1 min) and an automatic coffee system is performed every 200 coffees (20min).
- Plumbing - Automatic machines can operate from a built-in water tank. Plumbing/drainage is optional on higher capacity models.
Manual coffee machines
- Easy of use - Barista training and practice required.
- Speed - Coffee in 60 - 120 seconds, depending on experience.
- Drink quality - The coffee quality can be very high (Cafe quality), depending on the operator's barista skills and experience.
- Drink choice - Unlimited. Chocolates and mochas can be made manually.
- Flexibility - Coffee strength is determined by the size of the basket. Milk type, milk quantity, and temperature are adjustable to suit preference.
- Milk choice - Unlimited using a manual steam wand.
- Waste - Some coffee and milk will usually be leftover.
- Mess - Some spilt coffee grounds and leftover milk will need to be cleaned up after each coffee.
- Cleaning - The steam wand is cleaned and the portafilter emptied after each coffee. The machine is back-flushed, portafilters and baskets soaked at the end of the day or week depending on no. of coffees made (20 min).
- Plumbing - Connection to plumbing and drainage is usually required. Some models can operate from a built-in water tank.
What capacity do I need?
It's essential to select a machine that can handle the demand, as this directly impacts its reliability and lifespan. Each machine is rated based on the number of staff and the daily coffee consumption it can support. For instance, in an office with 100 staff members, the average daily coffee consumption is approximately 100 cups. This includes staff who drink one or more coffees, non-coffee drinkers, and client coffees. To ensure the machine operates within its capacity, it's advisable to choose a model with a higher staff rating than your current and projected staff numbers over the next 3-5 years. Upgrading the machine is always an option if necessary.
Small Office Coffee Machines (5 - 20 staff)
Small offices typically consume 10-20 cups daily. A machine that is compact, operates from a built-in water tank, features one-touch operation, and has a self-cleaning function is usually the best option. Budget ranges from $2,200 to $3,800 for purchase or $45 to $50 per week for rental.
Suitable options
Automatic: Jura W8
Manual: Expobar Office Control
Medium Office Coffee Machines (20 - 50 Staff)
Medium-sized offices consuming 20-50 cups daily require faster brewing cycles and larger-capacity components. JURA’s X8 and X10 machines excel in this category. These machines feature larger water tanks with the option for plumbing in, as well as larger bean hoppers to reduce the frequency of refilling, and increased speed for higher daily cycles. The budget ranges from $5,000 to $6,500 for purchase, depending on the options, or $55 per week for rental.
Suitable options
Automatic: Jura X10
Manual: CREM EX3 1 group
Large Office Coffee Machines (50 - 300 Staff)
Large offices and high-traffic locations that consume 50- 300+ cups of coffee daily require machines engineered for continuous operation in demanding environments. These commercial-grade machines often include dual fluid systems to dispense coffee and milk simultaneously, plumbed-in water connections, refrigerated milk systems, and touch-screen operation. The budget starts at $7,700 and reaches $25,000 for top-tier models, or a weekly rental of $65 to $75.
Suitable options (50 - 100 Staff)

Manual:
Steam wand, automatic milk system or both?
Benefits of an automatic milk system
An automatic milk system provides a convenient solution. It efficiently draws dairy milk from the fridge, heats it, adds air for foam, and dispenses it directly into the cup. Operating quietly without creating a mess or waste, this system saves time and resources. A (2 x 2 litre) milk fridge, equipped with milk lances, allows you to select milk (full cream, lite, or lactose-free) hygienically, without being in contact with the milk.
Benefits of a steam wand
A steam wand provides more milk options as you steam any milk in a jug, just like your favourite café, whether it’s dairy, soy, almond, or oat. Although it requires some practice, you have complete control over the foam level and temperature. Despite having leftover milk and a jug to clean, the process adds a personal touch and can be very satisfying.
The WMF models have a built-in steam wand, while the Jura models do not. However, you can add a WPM ProSteam or Morning Dream steam wand to a Jura machine for manual milk steaming.
Do I want hot chocolates & mochas or chai?
Do you need a machine that makes automatic chocolates and mochas, or chai if preferred? The WMF range have a built-in soluble canister for chocolate or chai. To make chocolate or chai on a Jura automatic machine, or manual espresso machine, add 2 - 3 teaspoons of drinking chocolate, or chai, to some hot water and stir until dissolved. Use the machine to add the milk, either the automatic milk system on a Jura or the steam wand on a manual machine.
Water tank or plumbed in?
Some models operate exclusively from a built-in water tank, while others require connection to plumbing/drainage, and some models offer both options. Connecting the machine to plumbing and drainage reduces machine maintenance throughout the day, as the water tank does not need to be filled, and the drip tray does not need to be emptied. The water filtration system also eliminates the need to descale the machine. Please note that descaling can also be eliminated when using a tank water machine by utilising in-tank water filters. There is a plumbing cost associated with connecting the machine to the plumbing/drainage system, and some locations may not permit such connections.
Do I have enough space?
To check if you have bench space available for a machine, go to the machine's specifications table. There, you will find the bench width required for the machine by itself and for the machine with a milk cooler/fridge. You will also see the height clearance required above the benchtop. If you have overhead cupboards or shelves, measure the distance between the benchtop and the bottom of the cupboard/self.

Automatic coffee machines:
Should I rent or buy an office coffee machine?
Rental makes sense if you’re unsure about a long-term commitment (under 2 years), want to avoid upfront capital expense, prefer predictable monthly costs including maintenance, or like the flexibility to upgrade as your business grows. Purchase is more economical in the long term, you own the asset outright, and you qualify for our 5-year warranty with exclusive bean purchase. Most established Melbourne and Sydney businesses choose to purchase; startups and short-term projects typically rent.
What brands of office coffee machines do you stock?
We stock premium Swiss JURA automatic machines for small to large offices, as well as German-engineered WMF automatic machines for large to corporate offices and high-volume environments. All machines feature professional-grade grinders, automatic milk systems, and commercial reliability.
We also stock European manual espresso machines, including Lelit from Italy and Expobar & CREM from Spain.
We maintain an inventory to ensure delivery within five business days.
Do you service areas outside Melbourne and Sydney?
Yes, we service all of Victoria and New South Wales, including regional areas. We provide on-site service for customers within 50 km of the Melbourne and Sydney CBDs. Outside a 50km radius, we use purpose-built transit cases to send loan machines and collect customer machines for service and repair.
How often do office coffee machines need servicing?
Service frequency depends on daily usage. A service is recommended every 12 months or 15,000 coffees, whichever occurs first.
What’s included in your installation service?
Professional installation includes delivery to your Melbourne or Sydney location, unpacking and positioning, electrical and water connection setup to a prepared site (if plumbed-in model), complete machine programming with your preferred drink recipes, 30-minute hands-on staff training session, demonstration of daily cleaning and maintenance procedures and comprehensive Q&A until your team feels confident operating the machine. Installation is included free of charge with a rental package.
Can I use my own coffee beans?
When you purchase a coffee machine or use one of our finance rental or lease options, you can buy coffee beans from the supplier of your choice.
As part of our monthly rental packages, coffee must be purchased exclusively from My Coffee Shop.
Our 5-year warranty is only valid with the exclusive purchase of beans from My Coffee Shop.
Do you offer demonstrations or trials before purchase?
Absolutely. We offer demonstrations in our Abbotsford VIC and Pyrmont NSW showrooms, as well as 7-day on-site trials, so you can try the machine, enjoy a coffee, and see the cleaning process in action.
What ongoing costs should I budget for?
Beyond the machine purchase cost, budget for
- Coffee ($36 - $55 per kg) - 10 grams per cup 36.0 – 55.0 per cup
- Milk ($4.50 per 2 litre) - 160 ml per cup 36.0 per cup
- Cleaning cost (Milk and coffee systems + water filters) - 5.0 cents per cup
- Servicing cost (Service every 15,000 coffees)- 3.0 cents per cup
- Total cost per cup (80.0 - 99.0 cents)
Dramatically lower than $4.50-$6.00 café pricing.

Easy, fast and efficient.
— Kerrie
