Coffee taste

Coffee is 98% water, so the right water is crucial to the taste of great coffee.  In addition to calcium, minerals, and fluoride, tap water contains traces of lead, copper, aluminium, and chlorine in many areas.  Claris filters freshly filtered water every time coffee is prepared, completely absorbing harmful substances while retaining important fluoride.

TÜV-certified hygiene

Jura coffee machines were certified as extremely hygienic by the independent international testing organisation TÜV Rheinland, following strict criteria.

Limescale

When water is heated, limescale is deposited.  Pipes narrowed by limescale slow down the heating process, consume more energy, and eventually break down.  Limescale also harms the coffee itself.  Although a small amount of calcium carbonate is important to coffee's flavour, too much gives the water an unpleasant aftertaste and prevents coffee aromas from developing as they should.  

No descaling

Claris filters make maintaining your Jura coffee machine easy by eliminating the formation of limescale and the need to descale the machine.

RFID technology

Jura Claris Smart+ grey filters use RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) technology allowing the coffee machine to communicate with the filter.  The coffee machine automatically recognises when a new filter is fitted, switches to filter mode and rinses the filter, making it ready for use.  It continually monitors the filter alerting the user when the filter has reached its capacity and is due to be changed.  This technology means the user no longer needs to select between the descaling mode and filter operation in the machine's program.  This selection is automatically made when a new filter is fitted into the water tank.   If the filter is not changed after a certain amount of use, the machine re-activates the descaling mode, and the user is prompted to descale the machine.  Descaling can only be done when the filter is removed.
