Choosing an Expobar coffee machine

Expobar is a Spanish espresso machine maker. It merged with Sweden's Coffee Queen to form Crem International, which now sits in the Ali Group coffee division alongside Rancilio. Expobar is still one of the group's brands. The Expobar model we stock is the MegaCrem: a plumbed-in heat exchange espresso machine with a rotary pump and programmable shot buttons, suited to offices and smaller cafés.

MegaCrem 1 group or 2 group

The MegaCrem 1 group has one group head, one steam wand and a 6 litre boiler, and runs from a standard 10 amp outlet. We suggest it for workplaces of up to about 50 staff. The MegaCrem 2 group adds a second group and steam wand and has an 11.5 litre boiler, so two people can make coffee at once. It needs a 15 amp circuit and suits up to about 100 staff.

New or ex-demo

The ex-demo MegaCrem 1 group is the same model, used for demonstrations, at a lower price than new. Check its product page for what is included before you order.

Plumbing and power before you buy

Both MegaCrem models connect to a cold water supply and a drain instead of a water tank. Plan for plumbing near the bench, and a 15 amp outlet if you choose the 2 group. In a heat exchange machine, one boiler is held at steam temperature and the brew water is heated as it passes through an exchanger inside it. After the machine has sat idle, a short flush of the group before the first shot brings the brew temperature back down.

Grinder, beans and cleaning

A commercial machine needs a grinder that keeps up with it. See our coffee grinders, then choose from our espresso coffee beans. Keep the group clean with an espresso machine cleaner from our coffee machine cleaner range. Buying for a business? Apply for a business account for B2B pricing on coffee, up to 25% off RRP.

FAQs

Who makes Expobar coffee machines?

Expobar is a Spanish espresso machine brand. It merged with the Swedish company Coffee Queen to form Crem International, which also took over the German maker Spengler. Crem is now part of the Ali Group coffee division and works alongside the Rancilio Group, and Expobar is still listed as one of the group's brands. The Expobar machine we stock is the MegaCrem.

What is the difference between the Expobar MegaCrem 1 group and 2 group?

The 2 group has two group heads and two steam wands, so two people can make coffee at the same time. It also has a larger boiler (11.5 litres against 6 litres) and needs a 15 amp circuit, while the 1 group runs on a standard 10 amp outlet. As a guide, we suggest the 1 group for up to about 50 staff and the 2 group for up to about 100.

Does the Expobar MegaCrem need to be plumbed in?

Yes. Both the 1 group and 2 group MegaCrem connect to a mains cold water supply and a drain, and neither has a refillable water tank. Before ordering, check that you have a water connection and drainage near where the machine will sit. For the 2 group, you also need a 15 amp power outlet.

What does ex-demo mean on the Expobar MegaCrem?

An ex-demo machine is one that has been used for demonstrations rather than in daily service, and it sells for less than a new one. Our ex-demo MegaCrem 1 group is the same model as the new 1 group. Check the product page for its condition and what is included, or contact us before you order if you have questions.
