Specifications
Size
|
Total Height (cm) | Width at base (cm) | Boiler Capacity | Espresso |
2 Cups | 16.0 | 10.5 | 90ml | 90ml |
4 Cups | 17.5 | 11.5 | 190ml | 190ml |
How To Use
1. First, you must fill the base with boiling water: 90ml for the 2-cup brewer, 150ml for the 4-cup brewer and 280ml for the 6-cup brewer.
2. Weigh out and grind your beans; we recommend using a 10-1 ratio of water in the base to coffee, i.e. for 150ml of water, weigh 15 grams of coffee. Optionally, for simplicity and ease of use, you can fill up the filter basket and use that as a measurement for your beans.
3. Grind your coffee beans finer than filter coffee and courser than espresso.
4. When placing the grounds into the basket, do not tamp or flatten them, but rather tap the basket to even out and settle the grounds. You can distribute the grounds with a distribution tool if you wish.
5. Place the filter basket into the base and connect the top brew chamber to the base.
6. Place the Moka Induction on medium to low heat; it should take 3-5 minutes to brew.
7. As it brews, keep a good eye on it with the lid open. As it gets hotter, the Moka Induction will reach a phase where the coffee starts to sputter out more aggressively instead of steadily pouring. This will make your coffee bitter, so pull it off the heat as you see this happen.
8. Pour into your cup and enjoy!
Advanced Tips
1. When grinding, the lighter your roast, the finer you will need to grind the coffee to get a good extraction.
2. Add an Aeropress paper filter to the ground coffee before connecting the base and brewing chamber. This will provide a better extraction and a cleaner cup with fewer ground particles.
3. You can experiment with different water levels. If you use a darker roast, you might only fill the boiler 3/4 full, whereas, with a lighter roast, you want as much water as you can to extract the flavours from the coffee properly. This technique aims to get as much water as possible through the coffee before it spatters.
How to Clean
Once your coffee is made, you can keep the Moka Induction clean by washing it with soap and water and drying it thoroughly. Do not place it in the dishwasher.
